Magazine Treat

My treat this week was a trip to
the magazine stand in WHSmiths!!

I'm trying not to be seduced by the glossies as I feel they are overpriced
and often I flick through once or twice and then they are left to one side,
only for me to sort out later and pass on to my mum.
However, this mag caught my eye.

There's a piece on broomstick crochet which sounds good if you are a witch,
or looking for some new challenges on with the hook!

I will have to give it a try and keep you posted.

My upcycled table

I grabbed a bargain the other day,
a pine coffee table for £10.00

It needed some TLC .........
sanding out the dents and splashes of  white paint,
and then a bit of wax.
It changed the whole thing into something brand new!

The motto is ........
Upcycle, recycle and save the pennies and the planet!

The table looks great in my living room

p.s Buzz was doing his best to pretend he wasn't in the picture!

When crisis strikes ....... crochet!

What a few days I've had ............. hospital revealed that my stomach is normal!
So no idea what is going on there and I am fed up with waiting to find out what's wrong.
I'm now waiting again for a letter to drop through the letterbox for the follow up appointment.

I had my dear mum to stay as well, mainly she was doing her mumsy thing in looking after me,
which involved me looking after her too!

With all this going on, I needed to do something to take my mind of it all and in times of crisis, out come the crochet hooks and balls of beautiful coloured wool.

You may remember me starting a blanket in the winter, well I am still doing it.
I'm on the downward slope now towards the finishing line.
On Sunday, I spent a lovely, carefree afternoon and evening,
 crocheting squares, one by one.

I think it is amazing how something so simple as crafting, especially crochet,
can eleviate troubles and tension whilst creating something special.

A Mat for a Flat

This is my new purchase for my flat,
a beautiful woven mat in yellow and white with a comtemporary bird design

I purchased it from my favourite interiors and gift shop
based in Newbury, Berkshire, called

They have an online shop too which is worth a visit.

I have been looking for a rug for a while but couldn't find one I liked.
I've had my eye on this one for a while.
I finally sucummed to my desire and took the plunge and got it!!  woo hoo!
I am well pleased with it and it goes nicely in my colourful, contemporary, and eclectic home.

It comes from a company called House Doctor
who have a wonderful online brochure illustrating lots of lovely goodies
with a comtemporary, retro feel (uh oh! Warning: it could be dangerous! lol).

Now I've found their brochure,
I am covetting several other things for the flat when my pennies allow, and
 can justify the need.
I've got a birthday coming up in July.
Perhaps I can put in a few 'subtle as a brick' suggestions to the ones that ask,
'what would you like for your birthday?'.........
These people are now few and far between, now that I am getting older,
I hasten to add! I'll should be so lucky!

My Covetted Items are as follows

these images were taken from the House Doctor Brochure

There is also a lovely blog to take a peek called

Beautiful Angels

I was clearing out a few things this week, I am still having a sorting out in my flat, and came across this beautiful postcard of these two stunning cherub like child angels.

Angel Kiss

I love angels and their symbolic spiritual nature.
There is something uniquely beautiful and calming about this picture.
It is called Angel Kiss dated 1921.

I am having to go to hospital again next week in regards to my tummy trouble.
This time to have a camera down into my stomach to see what is going on.
I cannot wait, I have been in a lot of discomfort so not been too clever to blog as much as I like.
Also my crafty vibe has been waining with the pain so not much creativity going on to talk about.
However, I think these two charming cherubs will help me get through the ordeal.

I trust the doctors to get to the bottom of it and sort the problem out
so we will see what the outcome is next week.

Have a beautiful weekend
